About me

Person-centred woman counsellor, positive mental health in Maidstone

Hi and welcome. My name is Alice, and I see a variety of clients (young people and adults) in my private practice, who are struggling with emotions, for example, anxiety, stress, depression, or relationship issues. Having lived in a variety of countries, I bring an experienced perspective to the difficulties clients may have, relating to adapting to new situations and differences in culture, language, values, and beliefs.

I believe that we all have within us the ability to achieve self-fulfilment. To do this, we need to understand and accept who we are (our identity, a sense of self) and how we have got to this point in our lives: discovering what drives us, what makes us happy. We can then create coping strategies to manage the challenges that life presents, bring about change, and move forward.

This belief is a special interest of mine, so my practice revolves around each client as a ‘whole’. The emphasis is on enabling people to better understand themselves, their relationships, and their world, to achieve and maintain positive mental health.

I am a qualified Person-Centred counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I have also worked for the national charity Mind, and worked alongside KCPS (Kent Counselling and Psychotherapy Services).

Providing you with a safe space

My practice at the Maidstone Community Support Centre is within walking distance of Maidstone town centre. It has a secure, welcoming entrance, with wheelchair access and a lift.

On arrival, you are greeted with discretion and confidentiality at reception, where you are then directed to a comfortable waiting area. There is also a friendly coffee shop where you can relax before or after our sessions.

My therapy room is a soothing, calm environment: a safe space within which you can share your experiences of grief, stress, or abuse. The room is quiet, comfortable, and private. Your safety and well-being are important to me, and as a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and psychotherapists) I follow the guidelines of their ethical framework and this underpins my practice. “Sessions with Alice have helped me grieve at last, for my brother who went missing 20 years ago. We worked with my complex loss in creative ways, and my letter to my dear brother was so freeing; I finally feel at peace. Alice was so calm and gentle with me, I felt that she got it. I can look forward now and get on with enjoying life again." — S.L.
